In real-life, fire may be hard to tame, but in the CG world we have powerful software and techniques that make everything different! Today we are previewing an upcoming tutorial on Playing with Fire Through Photo Manipulation that will be available to members on Monday.

The tutorial will be begin by walking members through some specific steps needed to prepare the original photo before blocking in any photographic elements or textures. Using free transform and layer masks in Photoshop, you will learn how to weave various parts of flames into the photo from other images. From there, the tutorial will examine and adjust a texture to be cloned onto the photo that will create the illusion of molten cracked skin. Finally, members will finish by painting in some final details with the brush tool and make the image pop by adjusting it with an adjustment layer.

By utilizing the methods and techniques in this Photoshop tutorial, you’ll be able to push your own photo manipulation projects involving fire to a whole new creative level while having a lot of fun.
